Administration
Principal – Megan Smith
Megan Smith is from Huntersville, North Carolina, and graduate of North Mecklenburg High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education from Elon University and began her teaching career at Northwest Cabarrus High School, where she taught English and special education for four years. Driven by her passion for educational leadership, Mrs. Smith became a NC Principal Fellow and earned her Masters of School Administration from UNC Charlotte. During this time, she completed a full-time internship at Wolf Meadow Elementary School, which prepared her for a five-year tenure as Assistant Principal at Central Cabarrus High School. Following this role, she served as principal of Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School for five years. Mrs. Smith and her husband Brad, who is a clinical assistant professor at UNC Chapel Hill's School of Education, have twin daughters currently in the 6th grade at JN Fries Middle School. In her free time, Mrs. Smith enjoys reading, exercising, cooking, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Assistant Principal – Michelle Kline
Ms. Kline is originally from Akron, Ohio. She moved to the Charlotte area after graduating from Miami University. She began her teaching career at C.C. Griffin Middle School where she taught eighth grade English Language Arts for ten years and then at Harold E. Winkler Middle School for one year. Ms. Kline coached softball and volleyball during her years teaching as well. After teaching for eleven years, Ms. Kline participated in the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program. During those two years, she attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she received a Master of School Administration. She completed her principal internship at Harrisburg Elementary School. She then began her career in administration as an assistant principal at Winecoff Elementary School. She is excited to now be a part of the Viking community! Ms. Kline became an Assistant Principal at Central in January 2023. Ms. Kline is the administrator for students with last names beginning with A-G.
Assistant Principal – Andy Platek
Originally from Niagara Falls, New York, Mr. Platek joined Cabarrus County Schools in 2006. He served as a math teacher for eleven years teaching at both Jay M. Robinson High School and Northwest Cabarrus High School. In addition, he served as the multi-tiered systems of support coach at Robinson for the 2017-2018 school year. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from the State University of New York at Geneseo and his Master's Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Platek is the administrator for students with last names beginning with P-Z.
Admin Intern – Daniel Combs
Mr. Combs is excited to serve as the Principal Intern at Central Cabarrus High School. With 15 years of experience in education as both a teacher and coach, he is passionate about helping students succeed academically, socially, and personally. As a member of the Cabarrus County Schools Aspiring Leaders Cohort, Daniel is committed to growing as an educational leader while supporting the outstanding students, staff, and families of the Central Cabarrus community. He looks forward to building strong relationships and contributing to a positive, student-centered school cultures serving as our MCL along with being an Admin Intern at CCHS this school year.
